The route less travelled
Landmark 1 (Explore Together Weekly)
During our weekly Roots of Discovery program at Isabel Morris Park Lakefield, we explore several routes through and around the park. The last time we visited this trail, there was a very wet, sticky and muddy patch that we got through by stepping over some thick branches. The visit today was NOT muddy, but the “bridge” was very noticeable. The children noticed that the branches where “stuck”… hmm could we cross over it? Was the ice strong enough? The children tested the ice by hitting it with a stick… “It’s strong enough to hold us… we’re little… I don’t think it’s strong enough for you guys (adults)”. Then the children noticed the different sounds that were coming from the the ice in comparison to the logs and smaller branches.
