Melting Masterpieces
Landmark 8 (Nature Art Weekly)
The students were invited to go for a walk and collect nature items that they found interesting. Bits of evergreens, little sticks, dried brown leaves, birch bark, bright red berries, long pine needles, and small pinecones were found, and showed and shared with their classmates. Then we found some lids and containers of various sizes, organized our nature items inside them, added water and a string loop, found a cold place to leave our creations, and waited. What happened? The water froze and look at our beautiful ice ornaments! We thought about where to hang our ornaments so they wouldn’t melt and made predictions about which ornaments (thick or thin) would melt faster.”
