Boats on the Creek
Landmark 1 (Explore Together Weekly)
Today during our Pathway program we visited the Baxter Creek to do some exploring. Children and families were provided with a popsicle stick base, playdough, and string to build a boat using natural materials. We attached a long string to ensure our boats wouldn’t float away. We discovered that if you use too much playdough the boat would sink, but if we used just a little to fill in the holes, it helped our boats float! We then used beakers and eyedroppers to investigate the creek, we found tiny bugs, dirt, little twigs and foam bubbles. The water was very cold, brrrr, mixed with hot air this made the creek foggy and steamed up our beakers!
