Stick Bug Discovery

Landmark 2 (Animal Friends Monthly)

Today we found an interesting creature on the wall outside. We took a picture of it and looked it up on an app we have called inaturalist. We discovered it was a stick bug. We then brought it into the classroom to observe it and get a closer look at this interesting creature. We watched as it crawled across the floor and up the shelf. The children thought that this was so funny! After reading about the stick bug we learned that the reason why it looks like a stick is to camouflage itself so we got a stick out so we could see how that works. The children were amazed at how hard it was to see on the stick compared to the floor.
