Rodent Nests

Landmark 15 (Garden, birdfeeder, insects etc.)

St. Joe’s schoolyard is visited every morning by some grazing cows as the fall mist lifts and the sun shines over the surrounding fields. Right in the corner of the yard is a young forest that the students love to explore. Mrs. Julian’s grade one class and Mrs. Kuchinak’s grade 2 class learned how different mammals are able to survive and thrive. How are their bodies different in comparison to human mammals. All the students converted their hands into paws in order to create a rodent nest. It was a high-energy activity as the rodents had to prepare for winter.
