The Perfect Nest

Landmark 15 (Garden, birdfeeder, insects etc.)

We wondered about birds and their nest. We first learned about different types of nests and how they are made. We wanted to make our own nests so we collected materials we thought would be helpful to make our nests. After we collected our materials we built a nest in our outdoor learning area and furthered our inquiry by reading a book The Perfect Nest. We discussed what a perfect nest would be if we had no rules when making it. Many students wrote about it being warm and cozy. We also made a painted multimedia nest during Art. We still have many questions and “wonders” about how birds survive the winter months in Ontario. Our inquiry continues.
