Wonderful Snow
Landmark 1 (Explore Together Weekly)
Students read a book by Eric Carle under the magic tree. They enjoyed using the crazy carpets to go down the hill in the yard. They noticed as the day wore on that there was some “yellowish” snow. Students were curious and some students thought some big dogs came into our yard and left behind a gift of yellow snow. Others noticed there were rotting leaves peeking up through the snow. They wondered if perhaps the leaves caused the discolouration in the snow. The students tested the theory picking up some leaves and white snow and combining the leaves and snow. One student exclaimed, “The leaves are peeing!!”, as the colour from the leaves transferred to the snow.
