Song Birds in the Park
Landmark 4 (Favourite Place Weekly)
On our daily visit to Jackson Creek Park, the children in the Nature Kindergarten class were asked to pay attention to the birds that we might come across. The class had previously noted the increase in bird songs in the park over the last few days. As we arrived near the creek, the children spotted birds swooping down onto the snow covering the creek and hopping in the branches over the creek bed. We stopped and watched their activity for a few minutes. They noticed that the birds had reddish feathers on their chests. The first robin-spotting of the year! The children wondered what the robins might be eating at this time of year. We will continue to observe the robins over the next few weeks to see if we can answer our question.
