Bites and Nibbles

Landmark 15 (Garden, birdfeeder, insects etc.)

Today, we made natural birdfeeders as an early Valentine present for our wildlife friends in the woods–the black squirrels, chippies, birds, raccoons and anyone else we haven’t spotted tracks for yet! We gathered pinecones from the yard (and local golf course) and coated them with WOW Butter. Then we covered them with dried cranberries and blueberries and loads of songbird birdseed and Wild birdseed. We carried them into the woods and chose the perfect branches to hang our delicious treats. We used twine to hang them, hoping all that will be left, by the time they are devoured, is a bit of string for nest building by our little friends. We wanted to “give back,” to the beautiful spot where we love to visit, build, explore and just “be,” so we’re excited for these pinecones to burst forth seeds and hopefully grow into new trees one day. It was such a fun experience and we can’t wait to visit the woods again tomorrow afternoon to see if any of our feeders have been enjoyed! We’ll look for tracks below to explore who might be getting the best bites and nibbles.
