Bubble Tree

Landmark 11 (Celebrate Each Season)

Today we brought bubbles to the trail. It was misty and wet. It wasn’t very windy, so our bubbles didn’t seem to float up very high like we had expected. It was so interesting to blow bubbles in the rain. We wondered if the drops would pop our tiny treasures.
We noticed all sorts of wonderful things about bubbles. They are translucent-sometimes even transparent! These are new words in our vocabulary. “A rainbow!” shouted A, which was so exciting for us all. We are all absolutely intrigued by the colors of the rainbow. We also saw the bubbles stick to the thick snow for a long while, which we found interesting. These bubbles today just seemed to stay intact for longer than most. The temperature and humidity must have been just right. And then the most beautiful thing happened…our bubbles began to stick to the spindly branches of the apple tree. It started with one, but as we blew our wands towards the tree, bubbles began to “grow” all over. We were absolutely delighted! The branches of the apple tree seemed to stretch and reach towards us-happy for the bubbles company. What a wonderful game and inquiry the apple tree led us in! We blew more bubbles and watched some pop slowly, after hanging tightly onto the apple tree for a long while. They looked just like glassy, shining apples-perfect for winter!
