Exploring Senses

Landmark 12 (Nearby Plants and Animals)

In our class, we have been learning about the growth and needs of plants. Today, we learned how to use our senses to make good observations about plants and seeds. We explored what plants look like, to the naked eye and under a microscope. We explored texture, size, shape, weight, smell and scent of plants to define their characteristics. Students especially enjoyed using the microscope to try to spot the stomata on a geranium leaf, from a plant growing in our classroom. We learned about stomata in a previous science investigation.
