Landmark 12 (Nearby Plants and Animals)
In Science, we have been learning about the adaptations of animals. Today we looked at local bird species and how their different size and shaped beaks help them to access their type of food. In this hands-on experiment, we used tongs, medium-sized flat tweezers and small needle nose tweezers to mimic the beaks of raptors, and large and small songbirds as they forage for food. We observed how the size of the bird’s beak allows it to access specific types of seeds/nuts.
