Who Likes Snow?

Landmark 11 (Celebrate Each Season)

To explore winter we have started to talk about what animals like the snow. The children had lots of good ideas including foxes, bears, and kangaroos. We put snow in our sensory bin with loose parts and arctic animals. The children wore mittens and used spoons and cups to explore in the snow. They used the animals to play in the snow and spent time hiding them underneath. The white animals were hard to spot under the snow. The children observed how the snow turned to water as the morning went by and we talked about how the temperature affects the snow. We then filled ice cube trays with water and put them outside to watch and see what would happen.
