On the Trail
Landmark 11 (Celebrate Each Season)
The first Hike of 2023. What a wonderful feeling to be on the trail again! It’s so wonderful to walk the same terrain throughout all the changes of seasons. We stopped to observe tracks in the little snow that was left. We didn’t hear many birds and wondered why! We stopped along the way to collect some pieces of winter flora that still cover the sides of the trails, remembering summer. We were so happy to reunite with our climbing tree! The group organized a game of hide and seek. There is just something about playing beneath and between the trees that is so soul-filling. I am always inspired with how little the friends need to have a lot of fun! When we returned home, we used our collected materials to cut and arrange in water. These frozen suncatchers have become a winter tradition. We collect and name the local bits of cedar, pine, queen anne’s lace and more, before practicing our cutting and planning skills.
